Thrift Shop

What I Wore

Necklaces - Gift/Forever 21/Earrings - Forever 21/Watch - MK/Bracelet - Forever 21

To thrift or not to thrift, that is the question.  I know that some people visit thrift stores frequently, some occasionally stop by one, and others will not go in a thrift store at all.  If you have looked at any of my posts, you will see the word thrifted in many of my What I Wore descriptions.  As a blog reader, I sometimes see others mention that the item they are wearing is thrifted.  I have to let you in on a secret, sometimes when I see that word, I'm tempted to be bummed.  Seeing that word means I will not be able to find that exact item at my local Target, JCP, Forever 21 or Macy's.  But, instead of being bummed, I think - Wow!  If she found a great sweater/jeans/purse maybe I can too!  I try to take the idea of the outfit and put together my own version using similar items or colors.  I love brand new clothes, but if I can get a brand new (tags still on it) Banana Republic top for $3.89 instead of $49.50, why shouldn't I buy the $3.89 top?  Are you a thrift store shopper, or do have a hard time finding good resale stores where you live?

  1. You always look well put together and modern, Sara. And if you can do it, and feel good, by thrifting, hooray! I love to thrift too, and most of my outfits have at least one thrifted piece. Thanks for linking up!

  2. Thrifting has always been a favorite thing to do for me. Especially in the 80s when there were amazing deals to be had on incredible finds before the vintage shops caught wind and scooped up much of the good stuff. Still, there are wonderful treasures to be had. I found some favorite old tux jackets that were so well made and at about $3 a piece, what a steal.
