Homecoming always makes me wish I lived near my alma mater, but driving 6 1/2 hours one way is not generally something that I undertake when my own kids are involved in activities during my alma mater's Homecoming Weekend. Thank goodness there are so many social media options to keep in touch with my far-flung friends! Do you go back to your alma mater's homecoming, or do you spend time taking photos of others attending homecoming like me?

College visits as a parent are an interesting thing. You may get a feeling that this place would be a great one - for you - if you were 18. But college visits as a parent are about observing and offering input if asked, but always about listening and watching reactions. It is an exciting step into the adult world for a child that has always had Mom & Dad to rely on, but can also be overwhelming. What piece of advice would you give someone about to choose a college?

My name is Sara, and I'm addicted to polka dots. I realized I am gravitating towards polka dots a lot lately when I scan over my recent postings! I can't help it though, they are calling out to me from the clothing racks (kind of like black is what I tend to purchase when given a rack of colors). I also find a lot of stripes in my closet, and love mixing the polka dots and stripes whenever possible. So, am I the only one that tends to buy something over and over?

When I was walking through the store I glanced over and saw the cobalt blue of these pants on a clearance rack and made a quick decision to look closer. They were marked $5.99 and I couldn't pass them up. Even though I don't think that I've bought clothes at KMart before, I think I'm going to have to check out their clearance racks more often. Not only did the dry cleaner compliment me, but they matched the color of the protective apron at the dentist office perfectly ;) Have you found any unexpected places to shop?

Lucky Star

Even though I have lived in Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio, but never lived in Texas, I still cheer for the Dallas Cowboys. So, when I saw this starred top, my first thought was it would be perfect to wear under a jersey during a football game. The plus is that I like it by itself too, and it was a perfect top for watching all the "stars" at the Emmys! My favorite thing about this outfit, though, was the shoes I found at KMart (yes, KMart!). They are so comfy with fleece lining, so they are going to keep my feet warm during the cold months ahead (even without socks). I think I will be making another trip to KMart just for shoes (I picked up 5 on this trip).

Yes, I had to wear the t-shirt because there was a UFC event (but no, I did not watch this event). I wanted to add some color and thought I'd throw on the red polka dot jacket I had seen at a thrift store and couldn't pass up. Not really sure it helped or if it looks like a hot mess, but hey, it is a MAN'S t-shirt and I had to do something to add a feminine touch!
