I love celebrations!  Holidays, birthdays, one of my kids winning when they play a sporting event, graduations, weddings...you name it, and I'm excited to have a chance to celebrate.  This past weekend I got to celebrate my youngest son's baseball team winning not only one, but two ballgames (and I hope to continue celebrating this week as we face the next round of tournament play)!  Luckily, I was able to be at both ballgames.  But, since I was in Cincinnati, I missed celebrating with my niece as she got married in Chicago.  Happily though, I was able to see a few photos online from the pre-wedding festivities (yeah, Facebook!).  What have you celebrated recently?

A few things I've learned recently

Pool noodles really do help keep boots stored upright!  I bought 3 (each $1.88 at WalMart) and 6 pair of boots are standing tall in my closet.

Strawberry Twizzlers are okay, but Cherry and Watermelon flavors are sooooo much better.

Coconut Oil removes even the strongest eye liner and mascara.

My family likes what they call "Blondies" as well as brownies.  Four ingredients that I mix together while I prepare dinner, I place in the oven while we eat, and 30 minutes later we are enjoying dessert.  I was led to the recipe by Pinterest (do you follow me there? Sara's Pinterest Boards ).  The recipe can be found HERE .

I have to brag for a minute.  If you have read many of my posts, you have discovered that I am the only female living in my house (besides our little Yorkie).  I have a husband and two boys  (okay, so technically based on their ages, they would be men) that I share a home with. I can't tell you the number of times I heard  "when are you going to try for a girl" or some similar remark, when my boys were young.  Now, nothing against girls (I am one after all) but I never once felt I needed a daughter, because I couldn't imagine how my life could be any better because I was so lucky to have two boys!  I have always said that I am actually very lucky, because I *am* the only girl in the house.  If you know me in "the real world" you would probably say I talk a lot about my boys (and I would agree) and now I am bragging about my boys here - but it is a fashion related brag, really!  See that amazing scarf I am wearing?  Well, it was a gift from my boys!  And if I do say so myself, they have great taste!  Have you ever had a fashionable gift that was a complete surprise?

To thrift or not to thrift, that is the question.  I know that some people visit thrift stores frequently, some occasionally stop by one, and others will not go in a thrift store at all.  If you have looked at any of my posts, you will see the word thrifted in many of my What I Wore descriptions.  As a blog reader, I sometimes see others mention that the item they are wearing is thrifted.  I have to let you in on a secret, sometimes when I see that word, I'm tempted to be bummed.  Seeing that word means I will not be able to find that exact item at my local Target, JCP, Forever 21 or Macy's.  But, instead of being bummed, I think - Wow!  If she found a great sweater/jeans/purse maybe I can too!  I try to take the idea of the outfit and put together my own version using similar items or colors.  I love brand new clothes, but if I can get a brand new (tags still on it) Banana Republic top for $3.89 instead of $49.50, why shouldn't I buy the $3.89 top?  Are you a thrift store shopper, or do have a hard time finding good resale stores where you live?

Putting a feminine touch to a not-so-feminine piece or adding a serious touch to a frilly item is one of my favorite things to do.  So, when I wanted to wear this pink flower necklace and pink bracelet, I reached for a pair of green cargo pants.  I like to think that also putting a pair of floral shoes with the cargo pants adds a touch of whimsy to what could look masculine.  Now, there is nothing wrong with being 100% girly-girl or being 100% tomboy, but every once in awhile, it is a lot of fun to be somewhere in-between!  Do you tend to dress more girly-girl, more tomboy, or do you fall somewhere in-between?

Yellow is becoming one of my fun "go to" colors, and this is a new favorite for me.  I have realized what a versatile color yellow really is.  If I'm wearing a neutral color like black, white, or gray? Throw on a yellow accessory, and I have instant pizzazz.  What about if I am wearing a color like pink or cobalt blue?  Yes, I can put yellow with those brights too.  I saw this scarf at a thrift store and thought it had a great combination of colors and couldn't pass it by.  Then, when I walked into the Michael Kors store with my husband, my eyes went straight to the bright yellow purses.  I decided that this crossbody bag would be perfect for all the baseball games I will be attending over the next few months (so my hubby got it for part of my Mother's Day gift!).  Is yellow a color you already use a lot, do you  you plan to incorporate more yellow into your wardrobe this summer, or are you not really a fan of yellow?

I am many things, some of those things are a woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife, an employee, and a college graduate.  However, the one thing I am happiest to be is a mom.   This wasn't necessarily something I would have predicted years ago.  For example, when I was a little girl, I was not like some of my friends who just wanted to get married and have babies.  And, when I was a teenager, I did not even know if I would have kids myself.  But from the moment I got pregnant with my oldest son, I knew that I had found the reason I was born - to be a mom!  On this weekend when we celebrate Moms in the United States, I want to wish those of you who are a Mom, a very special Happy Mother's Day! I would also like to send a hug to those of you who may find the day a hard one due to a loss of a mother or child.

When I was a very little girl, I didn't watch a lot of television (I kind of make up for it because now I do watch quite a lot of television!) One show that I do remember watching though, was Captain Kangaroo. One of my favorite parts of that show was when a character named Mr. Green Jeans brought animals along with him.  But, even a few years ago, if you would have asked me if I would wear green jeans as a normal everyday occurrence, I probably would have laughed. I just didn't realize that green jeans can be so versatile.  Now, I not only wear green jeans, I enjoy finding different tops and different shoes to wear with them.  What unlikely item do you find really versatile lately?

What is a bad day for someone who posts photos of themselves and what they wear on the internet?  Well, for me a day when I have a dermatological condition is not a great day.  But, what happens when that condition gets worse and worse?  Well, I finally reached the point that a professional needed to get involved.  After months of suffering from what had been diagnosed as eczema, I went to get thoroughly tested for allergies. Fortunately, I was able to find out specific things that I am allergic to.  Unfortunately, I have allergies to everything from "fragrance mix" to nickle.  Now comes the fun part - trying to avoid or eliminate those triggers of my allergic reactions.  Do you have any allergies and if so, do you have any problem avoiding your triggers?
