What I Wore

Grocery Shopping

Hoodie- Gap/Top - Target/Jeans - Lucky
Purse - Kathy Von Zeeland/Watch MK/Necklace - Premier Designs/Shoes - Rue 21

Buying groceries is one of those chores that we all have to do.  I am one of those people that goes once a week to get our food and incidentals.  I know that some people shop once a month, others who will tend to make a daily stop. However often you shop, the items you buy affects not only how your body looks, but how your body feels.  For me, this time of the year makes it tough to eat as healthy as I do in the warmer summer months.  So many holiday traditions involve food - that big Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas cookie baking, Christmas parties, etc. - and when you add the colder temperatures that bring layers of clothing to hide an extra pound or two, I usually find myself indulging in treats that I would pass up in the summer.  Do you give yourself the freedom to indulge a little bit more at this time of the year, or do you have the willpower to keep the same eating habits all year?

Around the Fur

What I Wore

Dinner Out with Hubby

Tshirt - Ann Taylor/Sweater - American Eagle/Vest - Thrifted (no label)/Jeans - Guess
Belt - Talbots/Watch - MK/Shoes - KMart/Earrings - Forever 21/Necklace - Gift

As I was getting ready to walk out the door to go eat dinner with my hubby, I knew that it was the perfect night to pull out one of my favorite thrifty finds....a fur vest.  Can you believe that the first time I saw this vest hanging on a rack, that I hung it back up on the rack?  After leaving the store, I couldn't stop thinking about how the vest was too good to pass up, and what if I went back and someone else had already grabbed it?!  To make matters even worse, I didn't have time that day to go back to buy it, and felt surely it would be long gone by the next day!  Well, lucky for me, this thrifty tale had a happy ending as you can see!  Have you ever had a shopping trip where you left without buying an item, only to feel like you had to get back to that store as soon as possible and make that item yours?

I Want Candy

What I Wore

For the Hair Appointment That Wasn't

Striped Top - Old Navy/Black Tshirt - Rue 21/Mint Jeans - American Rag Co. (Thrifted)
Scarf - KMart/Boots - Madden Girl

Inspired by

Yes, I was dressed for the hair appointment that wasn't.  How did  I get the date mixed up, when I "knew" what date my hair was scheduled for, I knew what the current date was, I knew that the salon calls ahead with a reminder (and hadn't gotten a call) - oh and they send a reminder email (and I hadn't gotten that email).  I blame it on the holiday craziness...all that turkey, pumpkin pie, shopping, talk of bargains, etc.  But, I have to admit, it was a not such a bad thing to end up with a couple of "free" hours to do whatever I needed to do.  Oh, and even better?  Next week I really do get to have those hours being pampered at the salon!  Have you ever shown up somewhere for an appointment only to  realize that it was really scheduled for a different date or time?

Dankeschön

What I Wore

For Thanksgiving

Sweater - Old Navy/Black Jeans - Kohl's
Shoes - KMart/Necklace - Premier Designs

Over the course of time, ideas of what colors look good together changes.  When I was a teenager, we moved into a house where my bedroom was pink, but the carpet was red.  I remember we were amazed that someone had put pink walls with that color of carpet.  But, now I would not only decorate using those two colors together, I would also wear the colors together.  Another color combination that I used to think was not a good idea was putting black with brown.  Well, this year for Thanksgiving those two colors were what I chose to wear while preparing and eating our dinner.  Do you have any color combinations that you used to avoid that you now wear?

Out of Blue Comes Green

What I Wore

Prepping for Thanksgiving

Shirt - American Eagle/T-shirt - JCrew/Pants - KMart
Watch - Adidas/Necklace - Gift/Shoes - WalMart

There's nothing like this time of year.  Holiday meals are ones that we look forward to all year long.  The turkey, the pumpkin pies, all of the side dishes (yes, even the green bean casserole) are some of those things that we could eat at any time of the year, but for some reason they taste better when we eat them for Thanksgiving.  Whether you are the one cooking the entire meal or just a dish or two, I hope your day is spent with the people you love.

Doctor Feelgood

What I Wore

For a Trip to the Doctor

Blazer - Talbots/Top - Forever 21/Jeans - NY & Co
Scarf - Thrifted/Shoes - Kmart/Watch - MK/Bracelets - Forever 21

The things that go along with the holidays in our house...delicious food, delightful company, decorated rooms and doctor's visits.  I am all about traditions and things being the same year after year when it comes to holidays, but one holiday "tradition" that I would like to drop from our routine, is spending time with one family member or another at a doctor's office.  This time it involves an ear infection for the younger son, so hopefully by the time the turkey is on the table all will be well.  Do you have any "traditions" that you would like to drop from your holiday routine?

It's the time of the year that even people who do not shop a lot find themselves braving the crowds in the malls and shops.  Although I like shopping online, and do so as much as possible, there is nothing like finding the perfect gift for someone and walking out of the store knowing you are holding in your hands that item!  This year with "Black Friday" becoming "Black Thursday", people will be out looking for bargains with a full stomach, and then will be able to go home and sleep instead of standing in line.  Are you going to be heading out to shop on Thanksgiving, or will you avoid that big event and do more shopping online this year?

Fully Committed

What I Wore

For National Signing Day

Top - Kohl's/Camisole - TJ Maxx/Jeans - Forever 21
Shoes - Tom's /Watch - MK/Earrings - Small Boutique

Today is National Signing Day.  What that means is that today, thousands of young men and women are able to sign a letter of intent for the college where they will continue to play a sport.  This is a big day for our family because my youngest son is one of those young men.  Today, I chose to wear his future college colors - purple and gold.  It was a fun excuse to "have" to buy a pair of purple jeans (especially since I have been wanting a pair!).  Do you tend to shop looking for a specific item, or do you prefer to go shopping and just see what you find?

Forever In Blue Jeans

What I Wore

Hanging at Home

Sweater - Thrifted/Chambray - Target/Jeans - Lucky Brand/Jacket - Kohl's
Necklace - Forever 21/Watch - MK

Today I'm just catching up around the house, but that is no reason to dress like a frump.  I like having the Pinspiration Tuesday Linkup to give me even more reason to make an effort to put together an outfit I could greet an unexpected visitor or run an errand in without being caught looking like a do not photo.  The pin I choose just struck me as a great casual outfit.

After months of hearing about and seeing who you should vote for, the day is finally here.  The United States is a wonderful place because you have the right to cast a vote for those candidates and issues that are going to affect you and the country.  This is year that a lot of people are going to be voting for the first time, including my son!  Do you remember the first time you got to participate in a national election?
